Fall Music Opportunities (Starting Next Week!)

MUSICIAN’S MUSINGS
Here at St. Mark, music is a core piece of our worship and fellowship together. Music is the way we can together proclaim with joy the gifts given to us; with sorrow the laments we share; and with confidence the songs of hope for this world. Often times this music is part of our congregational singing, but we also have many different groups that use music to glorify God, lead the congregational song, and edify the believer. REHEARSALS FOR THE 2011-12 SCHOOL YEAR
Chancel Choir (begins September 7) – Our adult mixed choir (high schoolers – adult) meets throughout the school year on Wednesdays in the parish hall from 7:15-8:30 p.m. We sing regularly on Sundays as well as offer special music events in Advent and during Holy Week.

PraisRing (begins September 7) – This instrumental group for 9th Grade through adult meets on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the choir room. We participate in worship on the fourth Sunday of each month during the school year and for special events. It is very important that you are able to read music. Holy Commotion! (begins September 21) – Our children’s choir (children in 1st through 6th Grade) meets for rehearsal on Wednesday afternoons from 3:45-4:30 p.m. throughout the school year and participates at least once a month in worship in each service. We also play or sing occasionally with the adult groups in special events and worship services.

Youth Chorus (begins September 21) – For 7th thru 12th graders – This group meets weekly on Wednesday afternoons from 4:30-5:15. We sing for worship about once a month at each service, sing with the Chancel Choir, and share our instrumental talents as well.

Solos and Small Ensembles (on-going) – There are many in our congregation who may or may not participate in musical groups here at St. Mark but are interested in sharing their gifts through solos and small ensembles. From time to time I will specifically seek people out, but if you are personally interested in sharing your musical gifts with the congregation in this manner, please contact me on an on-going basis.
