One soul dwelling in two bodies

In today’s Gospel, John 15, Jesus says, “As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you.” This concept of intentional friendship, i.e. one soul dwelling in two bodies, was the foundation of Pastor Beth’s message this morning. It has been said that the best way to develop character is to become friends with those who we want to be like. So if we want to be more like Jesus, we must reach out and become friends with Jesus. We then establish our primary identity as loved by Jesus. And, as he commands, we are to pass that love on to one another.  What a simple, yet powerful, commitment!

Pastors Beth and Eric knew from the beginning that friendship was very important to the members of St. Mark! And over the past two years, we have become their beloved friends. Pastor Beth purchased a sign to hang in our church, with a message she feels depicts the kind of friendship we have here at St. Mark. Look for it around the church…and when you find it, pause, read it over, and appreciate it. Then continue to LIVE IT…here and with others outside our walls.
