Going to the “Other Side”

The Gospel lesson in Mark 4 is essentially about “crossing to the other side”. Jesus was traveling to the “other side” in a boat with his disciples. As Jesus slept, the storm brewed, and the disciples woke him for help. Jesus rebuked the wind and there was calm. Jesus asked, “Have you no faith?”

Whether we are crossing the street to become partners with Mt. View Elementary, or crossing continents to aid the school children in Tanzania, Jesus calls us to “get in the boat and go to the other side”! Going to the other side is actually our future. As our journey continues, and storms brew, we need to be ever-faithful, and know that Jesus will be calming the winds for us.
