Mother and Daughter, Marion and Linda M, Join St. Mark!

Marion was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on January 20th, 1918. After grade school and high school, she attended business college and began working for Chase National Bank. Marion was later employed by Volkin Inc., also in Brooklyn, NY. Marion was married in 1943 and has one daughter (see below) whom she lives with in Olympia.  She and her daughter joined St. Mark last spring. They attend the 11:00 am service, except on the Sundays when she wants to go to Gloria Dei to hear the organ and organist, that she says are “just wonderful”. Marion’s eye sight is not so good these days so she is not able to do some of the things that she used to love, like playing piano, knitting, doing needle point and lots of sewing.

We welcome Marion to our Church family.

Linda was born and grew up in Brooklyn, NY. She earned her Bachelor degree from Wayne Lutheran College on Staten Island, NY.  Next, she worked for Downstate Medical Center and attended school at the State University of New York (known as SUNY) There she earned a doctorate in Cell Biology. This called for a move across the country to San Diego, CA where she worked for the Research Institute of Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, CA. From 1990 to 1994, Linda attended Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary. She interned in Honolulu, Hawaii.  She was then assigned to the North West Washington Synod, and was installed as Pastor of St. Steven Lutheran Church in Shoreline.  Linda has worked between six and seven years as an interim pastor in several churches.  She was installed as Pastor of Saron Lutheran Church in Hoquiam, WA and served there for 12 years.  This is where she met Pastors Beth and Eric. Linda and her mother, Marion Milk, moved to Olympia last April, 2015 and became members of St. Mark.  We are happy to have them.
