St. Mark Community Garden and the new GUS (garden utility shed)!

The garden is fully planted and we are starting to seriously harvest almost every day.  Thanks to Gary D. and his daily dedication and transportation of produce to the Thurston County Food Bank.  We are at about 1000 pounds as of July 15th!  We are having work parties every other Saturday:  July 16, and 30, August 13 and 27 – at 9am, and gleaning/harvesting every Wednesday night from 5:30 – 6:30pm.  Come join us – we will put you to work but it will be a lot of fun!

In a garden related development, the Garden Utility Shed (GUS) is now under construction.  Our community gardeners have patiently waited almost three years for a secure place to keep their garden implements and the Building and Grounds Community is excited to have a new storage shed.  The building is underway.  Thanks much to John M. for the architectural drawings, to Lloyd S. for leading the effort, and for Frank K., Mike L., Ken A., Jim S., Gary D., Andrus K., Ken L., Len B., and Gary J. for getting the walls and the trusses up.  Also thanks to Carol P., Julianna A., Zoe C., Gail F., and Barbara S., for slopping on the primer this past week!

Stroll back behind the church anytime and walk through the garden, cut all the dahlias you want, and check out GUS!
