What Art has been on the Church Wall this Fall?

For the past two months Josh E. has displayed his art creation on the Sanctuary wall.  The wall shows many faces of happy children with colors signifying the stained glass of the St. Mark sanctuary.  The painting represents our goal that St. Mark Lutheran Church is all about kids.

We have had impacts on children within and outside our church.  In addition to the normal church programs – Sunday School, Confirmation, High School Youth group trips to national ELCA youth conventions – we do many other things.  And we do it generously and joyfully!

We do the following:

• Buy Head Start kids (138 this year) coats, shoes, and P.J’s each Christmas

• Host the new Clean Kids Laundry service for unaccompanied (homeless) kids/families

• Host Mountain View kids each year for field trips to the Community Garden

• Provide Thanksgiving grocery gift cards for kids and their families

• Support the Safi School Project in Arusha, Tanzania (www.safischoolproject.org)

• Help North Thurston School District Unaccompanied youth in many ways with our “Branching out” program

• Provide new school clothes each fall for low income kids (with Thrivent Choice dollars).

We aren’t the biggest church around but we GIVE BIG!!!   Thanks Josh for the beautiful art reminding us who we are!
