On this first Sunday after Christmas Pastor Beth wished us all a resounding, “Happy New Year!”, and shared some quotes and statistics about the “happiness factor”. It was a surprise to learn that research lists the USA as the 12th happiest country in the world. Pastor Beth suggests that happiness is not merely a destination, but rather a journey. We can choose happiness as a way of living our lives, and then share that happiness with others. Given our ranking as 12th, it looks like we have lots more sharing to do!!
The theme of today’s Lessons and Carols was light. “And God saw that the light was good. (Genesis)”; “The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world.” (John); “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” (John)
Jesus is the light. And the light never goes out. He is with us always. Pastor Beth calls us to go out and let Our Light shine on and for others. A wonderful New Year’s Resolution to consider!
