Our History

St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church had its beginnings on October 14, 1956 at the Moose Hall in Lacey, Washington. On May 19, 1957 the congregation formally organized with 18 charter members.
In April 1958 the present site was purchased and services moved into an old farmhouse situated on the property.
The congregation began a building program and on October 1965 dedicated the present main church.
A building program in 1978 – 1979 added the parish hall wing and one in the summer of 1989 added the education wing.
The most recent building program was completed in September 2001. It added new office and nursery space, a beautiful gallery which connected the education wing to the main building, and a new kitchen. It widened hallways and used windows and skylights to make everything brighter and more useable.
