New Art on the Sanctuary Wall

Would you believe that this beautiful picture on the Sanctuary wall of St. Mark Lutheran Church was designed and executed by a 9 year old?  It is true – with a little help from David Nelson, our retired pastor and artist in residence.  And here is a written description of the art piece:

For the altar wall, Pastor Eric gave me the topics of Peace, Love and Joy.

For Peace, I chose the dove because the dove Noah sent came back with an olive branch symbolizing the end of the rain, or peace.

For Love, I chose the crown of thorns because Jesus wore this when He died on the cross for us – the greatest act of love ever shown.

For Joy, I chose a flower because flowers often bring people joy.

For the background, I was inspired when I saw a picture that had a stained glass background and I thought that would be a great idea for the painting.  Pastor David chose the green shades because it is the season of growth.

I hope this wall brings YOU Peace, Love, and Joy

Jerry C. (9 year old artist)

Pretty amazing, wouldn’t you say???
