Community Garden yields 58 pounds of produce for the Food Bank as of 7/7

As of Thursday July 7th the St. Mark Community Garden has produced 58 pounds of snow peas, lettuce, chard, broccoli.  The Wednesday Feed ‘n’ Weed had a small turn-out but Jessie and Angela weeded their potato rows, Ruby picked peas, Laurel worked in her raised bed and helped harvest, Gail used the weed-eater to beat back some out of control weeds, and Brent harvested, weeded, and answered all our gardening questions.

Pick these off the potato plants!Jessie pointed out that some of the potatoes are going to seed and you can tell because they produce round green pods like those shown in this picture.  Brent says if you pull those off the plant will continue putting growth into the potatoes.  So as you weed your row, please look for these and gently pull them off!

More produce, primarily snow peas will head to the Food Bank again this Thursday, July 14th.  Thanks so much to everyone helping make the Community Garden a success!
