Dan & Lara W

Hello!

Lara and I have been attending St. Mark for the past few years and gladly became members last fall.  We are happy to share with you one of our passions in life.

We find great joy in giving back to a cause that holds a special place in our hearts. Camp Leo for Children with Diabetes is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving children with diabetes in our community. Camp Leo has a comprehensive volunteer medical, programming, and counseling staff that provides a safe, fun camp experience for children with diabetes.  Camp Leo provides a positive impact on a child’s development, self-esteem and independence, especially when living with a chronic disease.

Lara and I met at Camp Leo as children with diabetes.  We grew into college sweethearts, joined in marriage, and now are joyful parents to our daughter, Cascade.  Over the past 15 years, we have served in various roles at Camp Leo, including camp directors, counseling/activities staff, teen leadership program facilitators, medical staff, and board members.  We have treasured this opportunity to serve others, and in turn, have received far greater gifts than we could ever imagine.

We are honored to have the opportunity to serve God and our community through our work with Camp Leo.  Though our participation is changing as we adapt to the adventures of parenthood, it is a joy to participate in this meaningful work!

Thank you for hearing our story.  We look forward to getting to know each of you as time passes!
