Meet New Members

Miguel and Lisa-Ann R, their daughter Aislinn and Lisa-Ann’s mother Cecilia are all originally from Chicago. Their second daughter, Aliyana, was born here in Olympia. The family moved to Washington in June 2008. Miguel was born in Fayetteville and spent most of his formative years living around the globe, Panama, Italy and Germany. His father was in the army and he got to see many wonderful places in his journeys. He finally settled down in Chicago and went to work for GE in their transportation division. Lisa-Ann was born in Salt Lake City but spent most of her formative years living in Chicago.

In the summer of 1997, Lisa-Ann joined the Peace Corps and spent two years as an Agroforestry Volunteer in Guatemala. In 1999, Lisa-Ann returned home and started working at Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago. This is where she became “mother hen” to 13 Transitional Year Residents. In the summer of 2008, the family moved to Yelm, Washington where Lisa-Ann is now “Mother Hen” to 21 Family Medicine Residents at St. Peter Hospital and Miguel is a manager at Autozone. Miguel and Lisa-Ann met the summer of 2002, on the CTA, Chicago’s Public Transportation System and they have been together ever since. They married in 2005 and have two beautiful girls, Aislinn – 6, who is in to Tae Kwon Do and Aliyana – 1, who is in to anything she can get her hands on. Miguel and Aislinn do Tae Kwon Do together every week.

Cecilia was born in Chicago, has lived in many places including Hawaii and Texas; and raised two daughters, Lisa-Ann and Christina. She came from Chicago to live with Miguel and Lisa-Ann with the birth of their second daughter, Aliyana. The family spent three years searching for the right church until they were welcomed in to St. Mark.                                   –Lisa-Ann R
