Made for Divine Things

Jesus says, in today’s Gospel of Mark, “Concern yourself with divine things rather than human things.” He turned to Peter and said, “Remember, you are made for divine things.” In his sermon, Pastor Eric asked us to think about what exactly these divine things are.

The Gospel teaches us that divine things include…denying your self, losing life to have life, and hope beyond your last breath. By following Jesus as he invites us to do, we are being emptied of all our sins, but at the same time we are being filled with all of God’s mercy, grace and forgiveness. The season of Lent is a time to reflect on who we are, who God is, and a time to remember we are “made for divine things”.

Jesus says, “Take up the cross and take in my hope. Remember…and follow me.” Now that’s divine!
