In October 2025, Debora was welcomed into St. Mark as a new member. Debora was raised in a variety of locations as her father was serving in the military. Her early years were spent in Germany, Texas, and Washington, her adolescent years in Hawaii and Washington again. Both of her parents were from Tacoma, so she considers the Pacific Northwest home.
While in the Army, Debora’s father was a Lutheran Chaplain. She was baptized as an infant in her grandmother’s church, Bethlehem Lutheran, in Tacoma. Debora attended Our Savior Lutheran in Tacoma for many years while raising her children. After a late-life divorce in 2018, she moved to Lacey to live near her sister and her husband.
Debora has two grown children, both married. Her daughter and family, including Debora’s two grandchildren, live in Stanwood. Her son and his wife are young professionals living in New Mexico with their two dogs.
In her spare time, Debora enjoys playing the piano, painting, reading, walking, listening to jazz and classical music, and sightseeing. She also does some traveling in the summers.
Debora says she feels welcome at St. Mark and enjoys the warmth of the congregation. She has already joined the choir and enjoys singing soprano with such a nice group and Choir Director. Debora says, “I enjoy beauty, nature and art, and I experience that at St. Mark.”
