Non-perishable food drive for the Thurston County Food bank Sunday September 8th!

A case at a time…A can at a time…”  Come help us celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America by filling a horse trailer of non-perishable food for the Thurston County Food Bank.

Pastor Eric’s sermon September 1st was about a “Generous Invite”.  Flyers were passed out to share with family and friends inviting them to join us in this joyful endeavor!

Pastor Eric shares the Director of the Food Bank’s (Robert Coit) belief that “We can end hunger in Thurston County”.  Let’s do our part to help make it so!!

Pastor Eric ended his sermon speaking the last verse of Marty Haugen’s hymn, “Gather us In” as it is particularly germaine to this endeavor:

Not in the dark of buildings confining,

Not in some heaven light years away!

But here in this place a new light is shining,

Now is the Kingdom, Now is the day.

Gather us in and hold us together, gather us in and make us your own.

Gather us in all peoples’ together,

Fire of love in our flesh and our bone.
