Meet New Member Joshua E

You may have noticed new member Joshua E around St. Mark in the last few months, especially performing with his musical instruments.  Josh has provided a brief introduction for us. If you haven’t already done it, get to know him and his family. You’ll be better off for it!

“I was born in Tacoma and went to Stadium High School where I played several sports, sang in choir, and embraced my love for art. I was also very active in the Boy Scouts and received my Eagle Scout Award at 16.

I received my Bachelors of Fine Art from the Northwest College of Art in Poulsbo, with double majors in Fine Art and Design. After college I moved to St. Paul, MN for a short while, travelled Europe, and then enrolled at the University of Puget Sound for a masters degree in teaching. I taught in University Place for 7 years, then moved to Lacey in 2012 to teach Photography, Graphic Design, and Yearbook at Black Hills High School in Tumwater. GO WOLVES!!

Outside of school, I freelance as a storyboard and graphic artist for commercials. My hobbies include painting, photography, backpacking, guitar, banjo, gardening with my children, movies, and getting my hands dirty on my classic vehicles: ’78 BMW motorcycle and ’56 Ford pickup.

I have a beautiful wife named Annie. She is a talented writer and embalmer. I met her in a funeral home, but it was nothing like that awkward scene at the end of Wedding Crashers. It was a completely different kind of awkward. I admire her skill and strength to work where no one else wants to. We have two children. Rogue is our 4-year-old girl and Huxley is our 2-year-old “little” boy. They are siblings and buddies who enjoy gardening, art, riding bikes, and causing mischief together.

We are so thrilled to join the St. Mark community. You have welcomed us and nurtured our faith in God. Thank you!”
