We Are All Entombed

On this glorious Easter Sunday, Pastor Eric exclaimed, “We are all entombed!” For the children’s sermon, he used the example of a butterfly shedding its cocoon. With the Gospel text of Luke, he explained that Jesus was talking about change to two kinds of people: the sinners, the poor, the marginalized people, and the rich, the powerful, the privileged people. To both he said, “You need a change. Come to me”. When Jesus said these words, he was unwrapping all that entombed them.

When you hear the words of the Lord, “Come to me”, “Peace to you”, “You are mine”, he is changing us. He sees the beautiful butterfly inside each of us and is unwrapping us. And that, beloved children of God, is what Easter is all about!

Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia!
