Picture this…the setting is a market in Jesus’s times, with a merchant behind a fish stand bearing a sign above it…”Fishes: Buy 2, Get 5000 Free”.
Our Gospel for today, Matthew 14, tells the story a bit differently. The crowd was tired and hungry and Jesus told his disciples to feed them. There was nothing but five loaves of bread and 2 fish. But Jesus held them up, blessed them, and fed 5,000 and more. Somewhere in that process a miracle happened!
Pastor Beth called this Holy Multiplication. Jesus sees to it that we always have what we need. And with a generous heart, there is plenty to share…and left-overs still.
