First Sunday in Lent

God loves you.

Remember that every time you see your reflection in a mirror.

This Sunday’s bulletin cover shows a reflective black and white picture of mountains and a lake.

A mirror image.

Just like the image we see when we look into a mirror.  What do we see?

The mirror shows the desires of our heart.

Jesus loves us.

Today’s gospel, Matthew 4:1-11, tells of Jesus’ temptation in the desert. As the Son of God, he endures the testing of the evil one.  His forty-day fast becomes the basis of our Lenten pilgrimage.  Pastor Eric reminded us that we’re going to be tempted all the time.  We’re going to fail some of those temptations.

The good news is that Jesus loves you.  God loves you.  All of the time.
