Sunday School in the St. Mark Community Garden

Sunday School studies “The Parable of the Sower” in the Community Garden

Gail and Mary were the teachers Sunday the 25th, and the children spent the Sunday School hour in the garden.  We talked about The Parable of the Sower and how it applied to our own Community Garden.  We talked about what it takes to grow strong plants, and then asked each child to find a vegetable.  Green beans, lemon cucumbers, onions, peppers, tomatoes, chard, broccoli and potatoes were found.  The children had a ball harvesting potatoes.  All in all, we harvested 54 pounds of food for the Thurston County Food Bank!

We also planted carrots, radishes, romaine as fall crops, and  crocuses, muscari, and hyacinth bulbs for next spring.
